Help for All Family Carers
Carers in Bedfordshire is a not-for-profit registered charity for family carers and past carers in Bedfordshire and Luton, including those whose cared-for are in a care home. We can provide you with help, support, representation and training according to your needs and wishes. You can visit us at the Goldington Centre, Barkers Lane, Bedford, telephone us on 01234 214914 or ask for a home visit by one of our Carer Support Workers. We have another Carers Centre at the Sea Cadet HQ, 4 Station Road, Biggleswade (telephone 01767 315079). Both centres are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Carers’ Support Groups meet regularly in Ampthill, Bedford, Biggleswade, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Shefford to provide a social environment where carers can meet and enjoy themselves. The charity runs a free training programme for carers and past carers which includes computer tuition, microwave cooking, armchair exercising, pampering sessions, emergency first aid, understanding difficult behaviour and other subjects highlighted as being important to Carers. We organise several outings or social events each year for carers and their cared for. We also have two special projects, one for parents caring for children with a disability (Parents Together) and one for young adult carers aged 16 to 24 (The Hub YAC). All of our services are free thanks to funding from local authorities, various charities and the Big Lottery. To avail yourself of them all you have to do is register with us – worth doing even if you don’t feel you need us right now. Carers in Bedfordshire is a member of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, a national network helping and supporting over 350,000 carers throughout the UK.
