An informal carer is someone:
- Who is not paid for the caring they do.
- Whose life is affected through caring for another person.
- Who could be a family member, friend or neighbour.
- who does not necessarily live with the person.
- Who can be of any age.
What are my rights?
- Carer’s Assessment of your needs, reviewed yearly
- Flexible working hours if you have worked there for more than 26 weeks.
- The right to time off in emergencies, paid or unpaid
- To be listened to and respected
- Named on medical records as a carer
