An informal carer is someone:

  • Who is not paid for the caring they do.
  • Whose life is affected through caring for another person.
  • Who could be a family member, friend or neighbour.
  • who does not necessarily live with the person.
  • Who can be of any age.
 
 

What are my rights? 

  • Carer’s Assessment of your needs, reviewed yearly
  • Flexible working hours if you have worked there for more than 26 weeks.
  • The right to time off in emergencies, paid or unpaid
  • To be listened to and respected
  • Named on medical records as a carer
