Support for Young and Sibling Carers aged 3 to 16

The project is one of the specialist services run by Carers in Bedfordshire which offers Young and Sibling Carers aged 3 to 16 with free emotional and practical support, information, advice, advocacy and training.

We believe in the positive benefit of them meeting as many share common experiences. They can also gain peer support while having great fun!

Aims for Young and Sibling Carers

  • To make friends and enjoy themselves
  • To meet others facing similar situations
  • To discuss and value their feelings and experiences
  • To learn how to manage difficult situations and identify support networks
  • To learn more about disability and illnesses
  • Social Clubs
  • Trips and Activities
  • 'Young Carers Grants'
  • 'Out of Hours Advice Line' - 07531 915190
  • Family time at our 'Carers Cafe'
  • Emotional and practical support
  • Informal one to one sessions
  • Help to develop strategies for dealing difficulties and improving health and well-being

Clubs
We hold 11 clubs a month where the young and sibling carers can be active or just chill out.

They can have fun and get support in a safe and friendly environment where they feel special and can take some time out for themselves for a few hours.

We hold monthly clubs in Kempston, Biggleswade, Dunstable, Houghton Regis, Leighton Buzzard and Silsoe. Free transport is provided if required and we have exclusive use of the venues.

 Social events & activities
We try to plan these to run inconjunction with the young and sibling carers clubs and have included pantomines, outdoor activities, an X-Factor concert, residential trips and are always well attended and great fun!
