We provide support to those caring for someone with mental ill health, this could either a partner, family friend or neighbour and you must live within Central Bedfordshire or Bedford Borough to access our service.
Support includes:
One to One emotional and practical support
Support groups which run during the day and evening across Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough monthly
Walking groups in Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire, who meet at various locations for short walks and refreshments
Information on what a carer is entitled to eg Carers Assessments and Carers Direct Payments
Advocacy support at professional meetings which affect the person cared for
Forums to address issues within mental health provision locally
Assistance with access to Carers Choices Grant for a carers break
Carer Representatives
Our Carer Representatives aim to give carers a voice at statutory and voluntary sector meetings that affect them and those they care for. We ensure that carers are listened to by the professionals involved in the care provided by local mental health services.
Support includes:
Supporting new and existing Volunteer Representatives in attending relevant meetings to give a carers voice
Monitoring mental health service provision locally, raising issues, concerns and highlighting good practice
Participating in the developing of new policies for better services
Promoting confidence, knowledge and skills for participation
Offering a chance to share experiences, information and expertise
